With the popularity of LED display in indoor and outdoor display places, more and more fires are caused by quality problems and design defects of LED screens, which poses great danger to the safety of personnel and the economy of customers. As the frequency of accidents increases, people begin to conduct more in-depth analysis: In practical applications, how to prevent fires?
Causes of fires in LED display screens:
LED display screens have fire hazards, mainly because there are still some shortcomings in several major raw materials.
First, wire. In most display applications, the larger the unit area of the display screen, the greater its power consumption, and the higher the requirements for the power-on stability of the wire. Among the many wire products, only wires that meet the national standard requirements can ensure their safety and stability.
Second, power supply. UL-certified power supply products are also the best choice when choosing similar products. Their effective conversion rate can ensure the safety and stability of the power load, and can work normally even when the external environment temperature is hot.
Third, protective materials. The aluminum-plastic panels of general outdoor display products age quickly with high temperature, rain, cold and hot shocks, so that in relatively humid climate seasons, rain and dew can easily penetrate into the screen body, causing short circuits in electronic components and fires. In terms of the materials of the external protective structure of the display screen, most of the display screen products with higher fireproof grades on the market use fireproof aluminum-plastic panels, which have excellent fire resistance and strong fire retardancy.
Fourth, plastic kits. Plastic kits are mainly used for the bottom shell of the unit module mask. The main raw material is PC glass fiber material with flame retardant function. It not only has flame retardant function, but also can not deform, become brittle and crack under high and low temperature and long-term use. At the same time, combined with glue with good sealing, it can effectively prevent rainwater from the external environment from penetrating into the interior and causing short circuits and fires.
In addition to the internal raw materials that affect the fire prevention effect, external designs such as heat dissipation are also very important. LED outdoor display screens work at high temperatures, and power consumption is another big test. If it is a large-area display screen, it increases the difficulty of heat dissipation. In the past, large outdoor screens used fans and other auxiliary heat dissipation, and later developed internal self-installed air conditioning facilities. In addition, we cannot ignore the factors that are considered to be caused in the later maintenance project. In short, the fire prevention problem of LED display screens needs to be careful everywhere.
How to do a good job of fire prevention for LED display screens:
The quality of display screen fire prevention technology is mainly related to the display screen fire prevention raw materials and cabinet technology. Fire prevention raw materials mainly include wires and power supplies used inside the display screen, external protective structure fire prevention materials and plastic kits:
1. In most display screen applications, the larger the unit area of the display screen, the greater its power consumption, and the higher the requirements for the power-on stability of the wire. Among the many wire products, the use of wires that meet the national standards can ensure its safety and stability. There are three requirements: the wire core is a copper wire conductive carrier, the wire core cross-sectional area tolerance is within the standard range, and the insulation and flame retardancy of the rubber wrapped around the wire core meet the standard. Compared with the general copper-clad aluminum wire core, the wire core cross-sectional area is small and the insulation rubber grade is not enough. The wire has more stable power-on performance and is not prone to short circuit;
2. Power supply products that have passed UL certification are also the best choice when choosing similar products. Their effective conversion rate can ensure the safety and stability of the power load, and can work normally even when the external environment temperature is hot.
3. In terms of the materials of the external protective structure of the display screen, most of the display screen products with higher fire protection level on the market use fireproof aluminum-plastic panels, which have excellent fire resistance and strong fire retardancy. The core material has strong oxygen aging performance, melting point temperature 135℃, decomposition temperature ≥300℃, environmental protection performance, low smoke and halogen-free, compliant with SGS, flame retardancy B-S1, d0, t0, reference standards UL94, GB/8624-2006. The aluminum-plastic panels of general outdoor display products age quickly with high temperature, rain, cold and hot shocks, so that in relatively humid climate seasons, rain and dew can easily penetrate into the screen body, causing short circuits in electronic components and fires.
4. There is another important part of the fireproof raw materials of the display, that is, the plastic kit. The plastic kit is mainly used for the bottom shell of the unit module mask. In addition to the internal raw materials that affect the fire prevention effect, the external configuration and design are also very important. However, the external configuration mainly involves the heat dissipation in the fire prevention problem. When the display screen is working, exhaust fans and air conditioners will be configured to dissipate heat and cool the inside of the screen. It is recommended to install 1P air conditioner for every 8-10 square meters to ensure that the temperature inside the screen is kept normal and constant. Improper configuration of air conditioners or exhaust fans will cause uneven heat dissipation, which may easily lead to safety hazards inside the screen due to temperature increase. At the same time, many LED companies simply simulate the spray waterproof test in the external environment when testing the protection level of the box. The durability and strength of the waterproof effect need to be verified, so water seepage occurs after the display screen product has been used for a period of time. This is an important reason why outdoor display screens are prone to fire or short service life. When dealing with thunderstorms, the screen body lightning arrester is also an essential tool to prevent strong lightning strikes and burn the internal components of the screen body. It can directly guide lightning into the ground without affecting the screen body.
6. Correct installation
Since LED electronic display screens are electronic products, part of their main materials are also combustibles, so we must fundamentally take "prevention measures" and use high-quality power supplies, wires, ICs, connectors and other combustible devices to reduce the failure rate and control the probability of fire on LED display screens; technically, during the installation of LED display screens, professionals must install, guide and inspect them to prevent fires; remove flammable and combustible materials around the LED display screen to prevent fires on the LED display screen due to surrounding fire hazards; in terms of after-sales maintenance, professionals regularly test and inspect the LED display screen.
7. Do a good job in LED display screen fireproof certification
To enter the US market, UL48 wire and cable safety regulations and ETL certification are required, while the UK needs to pass BS safety regulations certification, and Japan needs to achieve PSE mandatory safety certification. Although the Hong Kong Buildings Department has long been aware of this international issue, it has made relevant regulations for outdoor media buildings (mainly LED display screen products). All LED display screen projects successfully installed in Hong Kong must pass the British test center BS476-7 building material flame retardant and fireproof test.
